Defining the Product & User Context

The project began with selecting HRMS as the product space and designing for a specific persona—an HR Manager responsible for workforce planning, approvals, and compliance. Given the data-heavy and workflow-driven nature of HR tools, the focus was on understanding how users navigate between high-level insights and operational tasks in their daily work.

Navigating Complexity in SaaS Systems

HRMS platforms often struggle with cluttered dashboards and fragmented workflows. Key challenges included cognitive overload from feature-heavy interfaces, lack of separation between overview and action, and disconnected feature journeys. The goal was to create a system that feels intuitive without reducing the depth of functionality.

Structuring Information & System Hierarchy

To bring clarity, the system was divided into layered experiences—a main dashboard for overview, feature-level dashboards for focused contexts, and detailed screens for execution. This separation allowed users to move seamlessly between monitoring and action, while maintaining a clear mental model of the system.

Designing for Efficiency & Scalability

The design prioritizes efficiency through structured layouts, clear status visibility, and predictable navigation patterns. By focusing deeply on the Leave Management flow, the project demonstrates how a single feature can be designed end-to-end while ensuring the system remains scalable for additional modules and future expansion.
